Pradeep Kulshrestha (born 19 November 1963) is an Indian textile technologist, operations management expert, researcher, and author with over four decades of experience in textile manufacturing operations, project implementation, and technical education across India and internationally. He is recognized for his extensive work in technical textiles, carbon fiber composites, narrow-width weaving, and machinery efficiency.

Throughout his career, he has held senior administrative and technical roles at prominent organizations including the Ahmedabad Textile Industry's Research Association (ATIRA), Reliance Industries, Raymond Woollen Mills, Nandan Denim, and United Fiber Composites.

Early Life and Education

Kulshrestha pursued his technical education in textiles during the early 1980s. He earned his Bachelor of Technology in Textile Technology (B.Text) in 1984 from the Technological Institute of Textiles (TIT&S), Bhiwani. To complement his technical acumen with management expertise, he later completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA) specializing in Operations Management from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune, in 2012.

Kulshrestha's professional career spans over 40 years across India and overseas (including Uganda, Nigeria, and Rwanda), holding top-level management positions in manufacturing, R&D, and academia.

Early Career & Industrial Scale-up (1984–2001)

  • Reliance Industries Limited, Ahmedabad (1984–1990): Began as Senior Supervisor in Weaving Maintenance, overseeing the erection and maintenance of Tsudakoma Water Jet, Air Jet, and Sulzer Looms.
  • Raymond Woollen Mills Ltd, Thane (1990–1996): Served as Assistant Manager – Production, focusing on high-quality woollen and blended fabric manufacturing.
  • Modern Denim Ltd, Ahmedabad (1997–2001 & 2005–2006): Worked as Senior Manager overseeing warping, sizing, looms, and new product development.

Overseas Operations & Leadership (2001–2012)

  • Southern Range Nyanza Ltd (Jinja, Uganda): Senior Manager handling Sulzer and Toyota Air Jet looms, tracking end-to-end processing from yarn to finished folding.
  • African Textile Manufacturers Ltd (Kano, Nigeria) & Chellco Industries Ltd (Kaduna, Nigeria): Served as Weaving Manager overseeing African prints, blankets, and shawls production.
  • Blue Blends (India) Ltd (2009–2011): Senior Manager for Tsudakoma Air Jet looms, boilers, compressors, and yarn spinning utilities.

Research, Incubation, and Technical Leadership (2012–Present)

  • ATIRA (Ahmedabad Textile Industry’s Research Association) (2013–2016): As Principal Scientific Officer and Head of the Incubation Centre for Technical Textiles, Kulshrestha played a key role in setting up advanced machinery (Karl Mayer sectional warping, Dornier industrial looms, Jakob Muller needle looms, LACOM coating units, SAHM winders, and radial braiding systems). He spearheaded prototype developments, R&D projects, and industry consultancy.
  • NIFT Gandhinagar (2016–2018): Visiting Faculty teaching post-graduate students about textile projects and composite applications.
  • United Fiber Composites Pvt. Ltd. (2018–Present): Serving as Plant Head, administering the production of glass-woven roving and high-strength export-quality fiber belts on specialized Dornier Rapier and Jakob Muller looms.
